If you are on Facebook, most likely you have at least seen, if not taken, a Buzzfeed quiz (or something similar) trying to figure out what your Super Hero Power should be. If for some reason you are not a TOTAL geek like me, you can take one HERE.
For what it is worth, when I took THAT quiz, I got Teleportation! How cool would that be? Sure would make visiting the Bestie a WHOLE lot easier!! OK, moving on!
In real life, there is no teleportation or invisibility, or super-speed, even though people like me really wish those things did exist. Every single day I see a household chore that I would LOVE to just use my FLASH powers and get the dishes done in a half a second. But, we know that isn't how it works. We actually have to do the dishes in real time. There is no short cut. That is part of life.
And all you mamas out there know that is a HUGE part of Motherhood. There are no short cuts in being a Mom, even when we REALLY want for there to be! Dishes must be done (unless you want to eat on paper plates with plastic forks all of the time...wait...is that an option!?!?!?!), laundry must be finished (that nudist colony sounds better and better some days!), and the kids have to be fed (and fed and fed and fed. Why must they always want to be fed?!?). There is no way around it. Things around the house have to get done and usually (at least in my friend circle) that means that it is mom's job.
And while every mother I know is a Super Hero in her own right, we are just human. We do not have special powers to help us get these things finished. We have to use our own gifts and normal, plain old non-super abilities to get them done. It is difficult. Make no mistake. I realize I am preaching to probably about 90% of the choir here. You mamas that are reading this KNOW it is difficult, but we do it anyway, don't we? We wash dishes, empty and fill the dishwasher, run the wash machine, try and remember to put them in the dryer, then run them in the wash machine again when we inevitably forget to put them in the dryer. Please tell me I am not the only one who does that!!
But, we get our jobs done don't we? And not only do we get them done, we go above and beyond! We make sure our children are clothed, fed, and homework is done. We make sure our husbands are clothed (some mamas I know even iron their hubby's clothes...not me, but some mamas I know!), fed, and we try and help them relax after work. If we have pets, they get fed and walked. Houses get cleaned, kids get taken to sports practices and everything runs as smoothly as possible. I mean it when I say that the moms I know are Super Heroes. I mean, come on, we have to be!
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound? Whatever! I want to see Superman get 3 kids to soccer practice, teach a class at the gym, get one kid to 4-H, make sure all homework is finished, and then make everyone dinner. All in about a 2 hour time period! Where is THAT movie Marvel?
So, this post is for all my Mommy friends out there doing the very best that they can. We may not have actual Super Powers, but we are all Heroes. You are awesome and you better make sure you wear that big ol' invisible "M" on your chest with pride!
Blessings,
The Iron Stiletto

The Beginning Of A Super Hero
Thirty-five years ago on a planet just underneath our feet, a baby came into the world that would one day save all from the forces of evil! She would bring about peace to a world of war. This Super Hero would change the face of heroes for all time. Her name would come to be THE IRON STILETTO and she would strike fear in the hearts of villains all while wearing amazing footwear!
Okay, so maybe the above is a tad bit of an exaggeration. Thirty-five years ago a baby named Theresa came into this world crying her eyes out. She knew nothing of evil, or war, or of villains. She also didn't know about fun shoes, but that is another paragraph. Theresa was born to amazing parents who showered her with love and taught her what it meant to be a strong woman in a world that did not necessarily WANT strong women. They taught her that she could be ANYONE and ANYTHING she wanted to be.
Obviously, that girl is me. I want to welcome you to this new adventure of mine. I have written previously at a couple of different blogs, Full Time Job and Cheetah Stripes & Zebra Spots, but neither of them just never felt right. I would write in them for awhile, but then get bored with them because they were not what I wanted. I would go for a long time without writing. I have missed writing though. The past month or so, I have been feeling like I needed to pick up the laptop again and start writing. God had truly laid on my heart that I have a story and that there might be people out their who wanted to hear it. I thought a lot about and said a lot of prayers about a direction for a blog, but said nothing to anyone about what I was thinking. Then, a couple of days ago, I got a push. A friend stopped me after my son got out of school and asked me when I was going to start writing again. She missed reading my thoughts. Huh, who would have thought that someone would actually want to read what I am writing! I told her that I had been thinking about it, but just couldn't come up with a direction. I wanted a blog about my life, about my fitness journey, about my family, and most importantly about my faith. I told her some of the titles I had been playing with and she told me I was looking at it wrong. She pointed me toward the direction of the geek that I am. I had not EVEN thought about that direction. And make no mistake, I am a geek, and proud of it! I am a Fangirl and not ashamed to admit it. After a couple of other discussions, it was suggested that I come up with my own Super Hero Alter Ego. What a fantastic idea!!!
So, I put it to my Facebook friends and asked for some suggestions. Oh my goodness! If you ever want to know what people think of you, ask them to give you a Super Hero Name. I think it has to be one of my favorite Facebook threads EVER! The funny thing is, I had my 2 closest friends come up with the same idea!! Isn't that crazy? So, of course, that is what I HAD to go with. It is perfect.
The Iron Stiletto
I absolutely love the word IRON. It has so many meanings and just reads STRENGTH. Also, I am a weightlifter and "pump" a lot of iron. Lastly, I truly believe in Proverbs 27:17:
As iron sharpens iron,
so one person sharpens another.
Iron. Seriously, isn't it an awesome word?
If you know me at all, you most likely know this about me. If you don't know me, you will learn really quick...I LOVE STILETTOS!! The higher the better. The spikier, the more awesome! To be honest, I really just love shoes in general, but stilettos hold a special place in my closet (and they take up a lot of room in there too!). I do not care one bit that I am a 6 feet tall woman, I absolutely love being the tallest woman in the room.
This blog will be about me becoming The Iron Stiletto. Just like every other Super Heroes, there will be times when embracing my destiny will be difficult. Sometimes it will be easy. Either way, you will get to hear about it. I look forward to sharing my journey with you. Please feel free to ask any questions anytime! I will be telling a little of my story over the next couple of days, so check back soon!
Please bear with me too as I am making my blog "pretty". I am not very code literate, so I am working on it slowly!
Blessings,
Theresa
